Citizens all over the world are deeply concerned about the protection of their private life and their security. For example, 9 out of to 10 users consider that cyber-crime is a threat to their country, declaring that “it is a major challenge to national security”. Citizens are feeling threatened by cyber-crime and are very skeptic that things are going to get better anytime soon. In fact, 87% fears that there is a great possibility they will become victims of cyber-crime in the future.

According to “ESET Cybersecurity Barometer”, Internet users that make online purchases or banking transactions are very worried about the security of their personal data and privacy. The usual guess will be that they are worried about their money, but an even greater number of users fear that their identity could be stolen and that someone else would try to impersonate them.

Local governments are keeping a great amount of their citizens’ personal data (financial and identity data). They must constantly make efforts to maintain and strengthen public trust ….. and they need all the help they can get.
